Folding Cube Nets

Spotting a Valid Cube Net

Spotting a Valid Cube Net

There are 11 distinct valid nets of a cube. The standard cross is the most common.

Tip: Look for any 6-square arrangement where no two squares share more than one edge.

Opposite Faces Never Share an Edge

Opposite Faces Never Share an Edge

On the folded cube, faces directly across from each other on the net are opposites.

Tip: If two adjacent net squares show the same pattern, that's NOT possible on a real cube — opposites never touch.

Track Which Faces Are Adjacent

Track Which Faces Are Adjacent

Three faces that meet at one corner of the net will meet at the same corner of the cube.

Tip: Use this to predict which patterns end up visible together in the iso view.

Watch for Mirror-Image Distractors

Watch for Mirror-Image Distractors

Distractor cubes are often mirror images of the correct one — same faces, flipped left/right.

Tip: If the visible faces are correct but in reversed order, the cube has been flipped, not rotated.
